Rapidly oxidizing copper deposits and secondary copper sulfate minerals associated with acid drainage can pose a considerable risk to our environment. Identifying and distinguishing between copper sulfates is vital to environmental health to avoid public concerns like contamination of drinking water aquifers, farmland, and habitats for fish and wildlife. Copper sulfates - including antlerite, brochantite, chalcanthite, cyanotrichite, kroehnite, spangolite - each have distinct spectral absorption features that allow geologists to identify them quickly and easily.

Spectral Evolution's EZ-ID software matches the target scan from your sample against three libraries of more than 1100 known minerals to provide an accurate match. EZ-ID can also perform unmixing using match regions and score tables to concentrate on the essential absorption features.
