Calibration:
Every molecular bond absorbs energy at a very specific wavelength of the electromagnetic spectrum. It is essential that spectrometers and spectroradiometers precisely measure and report these absorption features at the correct wavelength. Every instrument manufactured by Spectral Evolution is spectrally calibrated against light sources with known emission spectra. This ensures that the spectral data acquired with our instruments is precisely located on the electromagnetic spectrum.
There is no need to return your instrument to our factory for spectral calibration. Our customers can use the Spectral Calibration kit (CAL04004) which consists of 3 different line emission source bulbs (Krypton, Mercury-Neon and Xenon). By capturing the spectra of these light sources, Spectral Evolution can then verify the spectral accuracy of the instrument and generate a new calibration file.
Spectral Evolution recommends recalibrating your spectroradiometer or spectrometer annually.

Radiometric Calibration:
Whereas spectrometers are used for relative measurements, spectroradiometers are precisely calibrated for direct energy measurements. Every Spectral Evolution spectroradiometer is radiometrically calibrated to a NIST-traceable calibration light source. Foreoptic accessories such as field-of-view lenses, fiber optic cables, and cosine receptors can also be calibrated for radiometric measurements. Each calibrated accessory comes with a certificate of calibration listing the method and accuracy of the calibration.
Spectral Evolution recommends recalibrating your spectroradiometer annually.

Training:
Spectral Evolution Inc is proud to offer operation and application training for all our spectrometers and spectroradiometers. This training can be purchased and scheduled at any time, whether you have just acquired an instrument or need refresher training for an older instrument.
Training can be provided either in person or virtually. Virtual training is quoted based on an initial 4-hour session for basic operation of the instrument and software. In person training is quoted based on 8-hour days. The in-person training can be completed at the customer’s site or at the Spectral Evolution factory in Haverhill, MA.
The training will cover all aspects of the operation of an instrument, including software and accessories. Our scientists, geologists, and application specialists will ensure that your staff is trained to obtain the best performance out of your Spectral Evolution instrument for all your application needs.

Repairs & Maintenance:
To maintain the accuracy of spectral data captured by your spectrometer or spectroradiometer, Spectral Evolution recommends returning your instrument to the factory for an annual performance and calibration check. Be sure to plan this maintenance well in advance of the date the instrument is needed for your measurement campaigns. An annual maintenance check will ensure that your instrument is always operating at peak performance when you need it.
Our team of technicians is expertly trained in the inspection, maintenance, manufacture, and testing of spectrometers and spectroradiometers. When you return your instrument for maintenance, our team will thoroughly inspect the instrument and report the inspection findings back to you, as well as quote any necessary repairs in a timely fashion. The quoted repairs require written approval from you before we begin any work. Being sure we only perform repairs you approve allows you to stay on budget and on schedule for your next measurement campaign.
