Competitive & Technological Advantages

Spectral Evolution’s spectrometers and spectroradiometers incorporate many key technological advantages starting with:

Fiber Optic CableBetter Fiber! Better fiber means better signal capture and better data, period.

Our fiber brings the signal straight to the slit (our fibers are terminated in a rectangular shape) for better signal capture and better data:

• No loss of signal
• No internal fiber-to-fiber optic coupling
• No trifurcated fiber connection inside

Signal goes straight to detector!

Accurate measurements with a consistent uniform field of view – avoiding 1/3 of the signal going to each fiber separate detectors.

No loss of data due to loose connections—our fibers are:

• Precisely aligned with a keyed entrance.
• Removable and can be easily replaced without sending the instrument back to the manufacturer.
• Protected with a metal armored jacket for increased ruggedness.
• Accessories use a quick release fiber mount for easy attachment

Our PSR+ Spectroradiometer also offers direct attach lenses for stand-off measurements with no fiber required and no loss of signal due to the fiber.

Competitive Advantages: More Signal and Better Signal-to-Noise with Photodiode Array Detectors
More signal and better signal-to-noise ratio. Our instruments use photodiode array detectors versus single element detectors to deliver more signal simultaneously to all channels for more accurate data.

• Photodiode arrays are solid state, which allows for spectrometers with no moving parts for rugged and reliable field use.
• Faster scans. Photodiode array detectors simultaneously collect all channel data faster due to simultaneous acquisition, ensuring that the scan is captured under the same conditions for all wavelengths. With a single element array detector, it takes longer to acquire the spectrum because the spectrometer needs to scan the spectrum, one wavelength at a time.
• Better stability and signal-to-noise ratio. Our instruments use TE-cooled detectors for better stability and better signal-to-noise performance.
• Our NaturaSpec instruments use a standard InGaAs array for SWIR 1, which yields better sensitivity and SNR than an extended array.
• Our modern systems use 1024 element Si arrays and 512 element InGaAs arrays, allowing for higher spectral resolution and sampling bandwidth of 1nm
• Our photodiode detectors are custom made in partnership with a leading manufacturer to ensure high quality.
• Custom dichroic beam splitters pass higher wavelengths and reflect lower wavelengths to diffraction gratings, allowing for all arrays to collect all of the appropriate energy
• All three spectrometers are included in a single package with common input signal to cover the wavelength range from 350 to 2500nm in a single continuous scan.
• Our innovative photodiode detectors are custom-made to ensure high quality and eliminate any risk of dead pixel.

Capture Decades of Dynamic Range for Higher Quality Data with Auto-Optimization
Our software performs auto-optimization before each and every scan—you don’t have to manually perform optimization. Auto-optimization allows us to capture decades of dynamic range for higher quality data while competitors are limited to a single gain setting for reference and target scans.

Auto-optimization includes:
• Auto-integration, autoexposure and auto-dark current correction so for each scan there’s less noise and less drift.
• Automatic optimum integration time for each array on every scan.
• Auto-exposure eliminates time spent manually adjusting integration times for each detector. It automatically maximizes signal to noise for all photodiode arrays.

More Signal for Better Data with Better Optics
Spectrometers with cheaper optics may not include order sorting filters. Order sorting filters eliminate second order effects – our Sotex filtering provides improved order sorting. We use dichroic beam splitters to deliver the light by wavelength to each array so there’s no loss of signal – each array gets all the available energy for its wavelength range. More signal for better data.

NaturaSpec Ultra SpectroradiometerCapture Important Features Accurately with Higher Resolution
Higher resolution gives you the opportunity to capture important spectral features accurately and validate the spectral data of any satellite or hyperspectral system. Our NaturaSpec series of instruments has the highest spectral resolution currently available on the market.

Designed for Field Use
All our spectrometers and spectroradiometers have a rugged design for the extreme conditions of field measurements. The instruments are lightweight and fit in a backpack. Wireless connectivity and high-capacity batteries allow for hours of field work.
