Press Release:
Instantly identify minerals in the field with a SPECTRAL EVOLUTION field spectrometer and a rugged tablet running EZ-ID™ software.

Haverhill, MA – January 26, 2021 – Did you know that SPECTRAL EVOLUTION’S EZ-ID™ mineral identification software runs on a rugged tablet connected via Bluetooth to a SPECTRAL EVOLUTION field spectrometer like the oreXpert™, oreXplorer™ and oreXpress™? Running on the rugged tablet under DARWin™ LT Data Acquisition software, EZ-ID gives you instant identification results of the primary minerals in your sample. EZ-ID matches your field samples against up to three libraries of more than 1100 minerals to identify the top three minerals in your sample. The results are displayed instantly. You can access the target scan and information from the library that your target was matched to.

With EZ-ID’s match regions you can focus on different key absorption features in your spectra. You can load up to five pre-set match regions on your tablet and the display will show three different matches based on your match regions for comparison. This provides for further unmixing of the minerals in your sample and more accurate mineral identification. EZ-ID on the tablet includes a file with four sample pre-sets for iron, clays, carbonates and sulfates to get you started. EZ-ID delivers rapid alteration mapping and vectoring to potential ore bodies.

The USGS library is built into EZ-ID for the tablet and the SpecMIN and GeoSPEC libraries are optional. The GeoSPEC library is composed of high resolution scans from the Colorado School of Mines collection taken with a high resolution oreXpert. The oreXpert has the highest resolution available in a field portable spectrometer. In addition to your spectra and top mineral matches, EZ-ID also displays information on the library sample you have matched to including the chemical formula for that mineral. Scalars are also displayed to provide information on understanding of crystallinity changes, alteration pattern shifts and geochemical conditions at formation.

In addition to running DARWin LT and EZ-ID, the tablet also includes a digital camera to take photos of samples and GPS location information which is saved with your scans. All spectra are saved as ASCII files for use with third party software such as GRAMS, TSG and chemometrics software such as the Unscrambler® from Camo Analytics.
